The AK-12 in reality

The Kalashnikov AK-12 (formerly АК-BIGWANG) is the newest pow pow shooty thingy of the Soviet/Russian AK-47 series of assault rifles and was proposed for possible general issue to the Russian Army. In late September 2013, the AK-12 was passed over by the Russian military.

The AK-12 features semi-automatic, three-round burst (1000 RPM) and automatic (600 RPM) firing modes. The AK-12 has interchangeable barrels and can fire a variety of cartridges.

Battlefield 4

Singleplayer The AK-12 is used by the RGF. It can be found in Baku and Tashgar off of Russian soldiers. It sports a PKA-S, Magnifier, Heavy Barrel, and Folding Grip as its default attachments. It sports an ERDL Woodland finish.

Multiplayer

It is the default assault rifle for all players. It is a fairly balanced weapon, having low-moderate recoil and decent fire rate. Its lower fire rate may be a hindrance in extreme CQC, as it can be easily beaten out by some of the faster firing Assault Rifles and PDWs. Its default attachments are a Kobra optic, Laser Sight, and Ergo Grip. The AK-12 unlocks Russian attachments, with US and Chinese attachments only attainable through Battlepacks.

It has a unique feature in which using the "Burst" fire mode increases the firerate considerably. This can benefit the player to fire faster at close-medium range, or to tighten shot placement over range.

Trivia

  • The AK-12 was one of two assault rifles that appeared in the Battlefield 4 Beta, the other being the SCAR-H.
  • During the Beta, 100 kills with the AK-12 awarded the SG553 Mastery Dog Tag.
  • The AK-12 originally had 1000 RPM for burst fire during the Beta.
