I'm wondering if it would be okay to begin appropriately categorising files? (E.g. [[:File:BF1942 ALLIED KNIFE.png]] under [[:Category:Weapons_of_Battlefield_1942|Weapons of Battlefield 1942]], etc.) Perhaps a new policy could be created on the categorisation of files? I just thought I'd ask before mass-categorising files.

:As the manual says in the Article Layout section, the categorization system is currently intended for mainspace ''articles'' only, and files are in their own namespace, not the mainspace. So, no, you probably shouldn't start categorizing file pages. Plus, we have a lot more images than we do articles, so the categories would get ''really'' cluttered up.

Leaked Content

Shouldn't there be a dictincation made between illegal leaked content, and legal?

Also, if gaming news sites can report on and link to leaked content, why not here? 69.132.69.87 22:17, September 9, 2011 (UTC)

There's no such thing as a legal leak? It is either legally released by EA or illegally leaked by individuals - against a legally binding contract. Usually, if content is leaked online, EA will hunt it down and have it removed. As such, no reputable source, including us, should or would host such information - Bondpedia (Contact) [ User of the Month: July 2010 Administrator and Bureaucrat Veteran ] 22:37, September 9, 2011 (UTC)
Anon remember when op metro got leaked.the bf forums got ahold of every gun unlocked and actually played it. But where neither ran by EA OR DICE. We don't want to be permanent ban from wiki for something that's why we only do official gameplay and trailers. Even though I knew most of the leaked guns(also most people here) we didn't even added any reference of it-Rika * satako - Nano[1] 23:19, September 9, 2011 (UTC)

Categorisation of files

I think that the proper categorisation of files is as important as the proper categorisation of pages and it helps make the wiki's content well-structured and organised. However, the Manual of Style and other policy pages do not mention if and how to categorise files.

I'm wondering if it would be okay to begin appropriately categorising files? (E.g. File:BF1942 ALLIED KNIFE.png under Weapons of Battlefield 1942, etc.) Perhaps a new policy could be created on the categorisation of files? I just thought I'd ask before mass-categorising files. --LegendFPS (Talk) (Edits) 03:25, December 15, 2014 (UTC)

As the manual says in the Article Layout section, the categorization system is currently intended for mainspace articles only, and files are in their own namespace, not the mainspace. So, no, you probably shouldn't start categorizing file pages. Plus, we have a lot more images than we do articles, so the categories would get really cluttered up.
However, if you really want to create a categorization system for files, we could potentially make subcategories for files within the categories for the mainspace articles. Like I said though, we have a lot of files, so it'll take a while to get everything sorted out, and I don't believe we currently have access to a bot to help with the process. But, if you're up for it, we can make a vote to implement it and see what everyone thinks.
