As promised, Visceral has announced details reguarding the Battlefield Hardline beta.

    • Open Beta - Available for all platforms (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC)
    • Features Hotwire and Conquest gamemodes
    • No Cap on progression level - Players can technically rank up to the max rank of 150 and unlock all weapons for the beta.
    • Stats DO NOT carry over to the actual game.

The only thing missing from these details is the actual open beta release date. Unfortuately, Visceral did not provide a date due to wanting to make everything working in good order and not promising a release date they cannot meet. Fear not as they did hint, however, that it would be "sooner than you think".

It has been revealed that Battlefield 4's Premium Calender, which originally ended in October 2014, has been extended to December 2015. The question is, what could this new content be?

Final Stand was intended to be the last expansion (hence the "Final" part) but DICE LA confirmed more content was on the way. While we dont know much, we do know the expansion will most likely feature reimagined classic maps from older Battlefield installments. In fact, DICE has a poll up right now that lets you vote on ANY map from past installments you want to see in Battlefield 4.

Due to the calender extension, its probably safe to assume new knives will be introduced as well as double XP evemts, battlepacks, and more. The inclusion of new weapons is questio…

Dan Mitre, the Battlefield Community Manager, has confirmed that, due to the server outages and issues Battlefield 4 has experienced over the past few days, the Double XP boost will be extended beyond New Year's day. No end date has currently been given. Hopefully everyone's able to get some play time in now!

As a holiday gift this year, DICE has started a Double XP boost for all users lasting from today up to New Year's day in Battlefield 4. Along with that, all users have also received a free Gold Battlepack for the holidays. So, go play in the snow and get those last few unlocks while you can!

So, it's the 9th of December, and the announcement that DICE LA Producer David Sirland spoke about last week happened today at 9 AM PST through a blog post on Battlelog. The post reads:

It has without a doubt been a thrilling year for Battlefield 4™. We’ve deployed several expansion packs, launched the Community Test Environment, and done several updates and tweaks to constantly improve the gameplay experience.
With Battlefield 4 Final Stand released, we hope and believe that you will enjoy it together with the rest of the game for a long time. However, there is one thing we want to assure you: there is more content coming for Battlefield 4.

In other words, the announcement didn't exactly confirm that a 6th expansion for Battlefield 4 is in the w…

DICE has released a huge community update on Battlelog and here are the details.

"Currently, the official Quick Match servers run a pretty static set of map and mode combinations. This is something we’d like to try and mix up with some new additions, including all map and mode combinations, for Battlefield 4 Premium Membership members.

Below is our initial thoughts for what we feel the three initial experiences should be. However, this is not set in stone. We’ll consider making them available if we receive enough feedback that this is something you, the community, wants."

According to, DICE has been porting parts of Battlefield 4 to IOS, as seen from the photos below depicting a ported Rogue Transmission. They do stress, however that its only a tech demo at the moment and may never actually release.

"It has been quite a challenge," said Frostbite's Go program manager Kristoff Benjaminsson. "To handle dynamic features such as destruction or moving light sources, most things in the Frostbite engine happen in realtime. This puts extra demand on performance to be able to deliver large, highly detailed worlds with superb visual quality. Following claims from analyst that the next Battlefield would be released in 2016, EA CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed that the next Battlefield, while not specifically named Battlefield 5, would be released during quarter 3 of EA's 2017 fiscal year (2016), which finishes at the end of December.

No other specifics were provided, but this release supports the recent predictions of the analysts, who said EA may wait until 2016 for the next installment. This would not only avoid franchise fatigue, the analysts said, but also clear space for Star Wars: Battlefront in 2015.

Battlefield Hardline's new release date was also announced –– the game releases March 17, 2015 in North America and March 19 in Europe. The game was originally delayed to account for u…

UPDATE! - EA CEO Andrew Wilson has confirmed the release of a new Battlefield in December 2016! See this blog for more information! -- 23:49, October 28, 2014 (UTC)

Analysts at Stern Agee believe EA will push back the release of Battlefield 5 to 2016. The wording is a little strange, since EA hasn't made any official announcement about Battlefield 5.

The firm gives three reasons for this belief. First, EA may want to avoid franchise fatigue. Battlefield Hardline, the cops and robbers spinoff, is out in March 2015.

Second, EA is apparently feeling very confident about the release of its other shooter, Star Wars Battlefront. A year and a half ago, EA said it was targeting a Summer 2015 release for Battlefront. It is unclear whether or not that is st…

Based on feedback for the Battlefield Hardline Beta last June as well as from the Community Test Environment, Visceral, namely GM Steve Papoutsis has taken the liberty to reveal some changes that have been made following the beta.

The two factions of the game, Cops and Criminals now have faction specific weapons. RPGs and mines are now not issued to any class, instead being transformed into Battle Pickups. Papoutsis explained more on the change:

"The other big change is more around explosives and some of the heavy duty weapons. Obviously with Battlefield you have this really solid foundation of rock, paper, scissors gameplay. The heavy weapons counter the vehicles, etc. There’s a great balance that the team has created over the years. We wante…

So first lets review the patch. First right off the bat I give this patch a 7/10. I play BF4 on the Xbox one. Theres alot the patch changed but I'm only going to talk about the things I didn't like

So the main reason Its not a 10/10 is because of weapon balanced.

    1. Slow firing weapons still dont have high damage or range compared to high RPM weapons, PDW's are still being out damaged upclose, SR338 is still useless and the shotguns hipfire still sucks. Then correct me if im wrong bf4 still has ADS accuracy delay coming out of sprint. so because of this I took away 2

    2. I still am getting killed around corner, still experiencing trade kills, bad hit detection and rubber banding albeit its less common since the patch. I took away 1 for this.

Battlefield Hardline was conceived some 18 months ago with the goal of reinventing the storytelling wheel through a television-episode presentation and is due to release in early 2015, and this time Visceral promises that the game will not run into the same gameplay misadventure like Battlefield 4 did last 2013.

On Monday, the anticipated Fall Update for Battlefield 4 was released for all consoles. It's one of biggest non-DLC patches for game so far, coming in at just over a gigabyte in size, and finally adds many of the changes that had gone through testing in Community Test Environment over the last few months.

As it's been mentioned, the patch is big, so I won't be listing the all of the patch notes. Instead, here a few highlights from the official Blog post.

    - Player movement has been improved to more closely match that of Battlefield 3, while still maintaining the animation fidelity of Battlefield 4.

According to Battlefield Hardline creative director Ian Milham, the game may carry the "Battlefield" name but its cops-and-robbers approach is different enough from the "core" Battlefield formula that fans will continue to play the game even after its follow-up is released.

"I think we are making something different from the core of Battlefield that is being made and I think they can live along next to each other," he said. "And whatever gets made next and whenever the next Battlefield comes along, I don't think it necessarily replaces this one."

No new Battlefield titles beyond Hardline have been officially announced, but series producer Patrick Bach said back in October 2013 that a potential Battlefield 5 would need to have "more features. Mo…

We all know that Battlefield has never been about the story of the games but it kind of bothers me that all these conflicts doesnt have a resolution/end.

How the War of 2014 ended? in a cease fire? a peace treaty? its never explained in the story of Battlefield 4, even trough its clear that the US and the Russian Federation are not at peace but also not at war, which makes it more confusing.

I know that the story of Battlefield 4 has two outcomes, the first one: Jin-Jie survives and Russia invades China and the second outcome: Jin-Jie dies, Chang takes the government and the US invades China, however, most players agreed that the second outcome is the canonical one as seen in Final Stand were we can see the early logos of the Pan-Asian Coali…

I have this unusual feeling it may have to do with the AN-94 because it was seen in the US vs. EU tournament but was nowhere to be seen in Second Assault. I kinda am hoping for it to be the AN 94 or maybe another weapon set (Maybe a BF3 homage with the M417 and whatnot). While I am crossing my fingers for it and it seems probable, it's probably not likely.

Another one that I have this feeling for is, you guessed it, paints and camos. It seems like an impossible amount of paints and …

In all these Zombie Apocalypse in forms of entertainment, you never find out where these zombies come from. Dinosaurs are back and they are here to the Earth and the Military are going to stop it. They will be civilians and you have to rescue and evacuate them. You kill civilains you'll recieve negative score.

Now, however, EA has replaced "Summer 2014" with "TBD", meaning that EA does not even believe it will release this Summer and does not want consumers to believe otherwise. -- 20:48, July 2, 2014 (UTC)

DICE has revealed the new update notes for the Community Test Environment. Remember that these new features are in the testing process and may not be added to the actual game in a later patch. -- 21:28, June 28, 2014 (UTC)

The update includes many new tweaks to the Netcode, bug fixes, etc. as well as entirely new features. The update also focuses on tweaks for the upcoming Dragon's Teeth expansion and as well as the weapons and gadgets featured in it, such as the Ballistic Shield.

    • Shield bash damage has been tweaked, it is no longer possible to one-hit kill enemies. The Ballistics shield now better matches with the initial design intent (Confirmed to Stay)
    • Single tank AP-rounds now kill those carrying the Ballistics Shield, something that prev…

The General Manager of DICE, Karl-Magnus Troeddson has revealed in an interview with Eurogamer why Battlefield: Bad Company 3 was not the next installment in the series following the announcement of Battlefield Hardline.

"We hear those comments as well and see them," DICE boss Karl-Magnus Troedsson told Eurogamer. "There were some people who were saying, "why are you building Hardline? You should build Bad Company 3 instead."

The reason Bad Company 3 is not in development is because "DICE isn't sure what people really liked about Bad Company, and thus isn't sure how to go about making a sequel".

"We take all this into account when we think about the future, and do franchise strategy," Troedsson said. "But there's one thing that lingers with Bad Company…

Since the Era of the Modern Military Shooters is clearly about to end, i was thinking that theres a high possibility that Battlefield 5 will be set in the Future, you may say that it would be Battlefield 2143 but since EA wants major installments in the Franchise (Hardline is the exception) to secure major sells, is going to be called Battlefield 5, The Star Wars Battlefront Reboot is another story since that game is not targeted to Titanfall & future Advanced Warfare players (i hope for the love of the Maker), i feel EA will want they own Titanfall/Advanced Warfare like-Battlefield for that audience.

The CEO of EA, Andrew Wilson has described the launch of Battlefield 4 as unacceptable and has detailed the new process it of launching games so it never happens again.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Wilson and the GM of DICE, Karl-Magnus Troedsson tell of what happened that caused all the woes in Battlefield 4's launch and eventually made DICE hault all production on future products and expansions.

"For clarity it wasn't actually a server problem for Battlefield 4," EA boss Andrew Wilson told Eurogamer. "It was a client side problem. Right now the game is playing extremely well, and people are in there and having a lot of fun. I'm still playing it."' Wilson then went on to say the game suffered because of its ambition. "Think about what Battlef…

A forum moderator on Battlelog has stated that the new veteran program was a proposed idea that never happened. With this said, the possibility of this program being released is questionable. -- 16:23, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

A new Battlefield Veteran system has been revealed in a post on Battlelog that has now been removed.

In order to participate, players must have played at least 10 hours of Battlefield 3. Upon doing so you will be awarded a Battlepack and if you have played more installments of the Battlefield Series that are registered to your account you'll get more awards for Battlefield 4

Still no telling what these awards are but time will tell when DICE announces them. -- 00:37, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

The Battlefield Hardline beta is now available to all PC players. Sure you could have signed up before at the official websit but that would put you on a waiting list to get into the beta and who knows how long that will take. DICE has just announced, however, that PC players will now get instant access to the beta if they sign up now here.

As for PS4 players, sorry but there is still a waiting list to get in. Fear not however, as I am giving away a PS4 Beta Key with more information here. -- 06:27, June 18, 2014 (UTC)
