The Panzerschreck (English: Tank terror), officially the Raketenpanzerbüchse (English: Rocket armor rifle), was a German rocket launcher designed during World War II. It was a reusable, shoulder-fired rocket launcher that fired a 88mm rocket-propelled grenade. It was heavily based on the American Bazooka.

Battlefield 1942[]

The Panzerschreck (misspelled as the Panzershreck in the game files) is issued to all of the Axis Powers Anti-Tank kit. Its essential use is as an anti-armor is quite effective, as it can take only 1-2 rockets from the back of a tank to destroy it. However, a player must truly look towards flanking a tank, as the frontal armor is much more durable. It can usually destroy a light vehicle in a single shot. It has a very small blast radius however, limiting its usefulness as an anti-infantry weapon. Despite this, careful aiming can assist in taking out stationary targets, as a direct hit will always kill. It is statistically the same as the Allies' Bazooka.

In Battlefield Vietnam's official WWII mod, the Panzerschreck is issued as an option to the Imperial Japanese Army's Anti-Tank/Heavy Assault kit. It uses the same model and sounds from its Battlefield 1942 counterpart, however uses different animations. Specifically, its reload animation is the same as the SA-7's from the base game. Its performance and stats are very similar to those from its counterpart in the previous game.

BF1 Trash Cut content
The subject of this article, Panzerschreck, has been cut from the final version of a Battlefield game.

The Panzerschreck was set to be added to multiplayer but was ultimately cut. According to DICE, the weapon was never released because it did not offer anything unique in terms of gameplay and they wanted to prioritize work on weapons that would mix up gameplay.[3]
