Technical

A Technical in reality.

A Technical is a type of improvised fighting vehicle, typically a civilian or military non-combat vehicle, modified to provide an offensive capability. It is usually an open-backed civilian pickup truck (Toyota Hilux being by far most popular) or four-wheel drive vehicle mounting a machine gun, light anti-aircraft gun, a recoilless rifle, or even a helicopter rocket pod or a multiple launch rocket system.

The Technical was a planned vehicle for Battlefield 2 but was cut at an unknown stage of development. Its remaining files can be found in mods\bf2\Objects_client(server).zip\freecontent\land\jep_technical. It has incomplete texture and model files, and according to the .tweak file, was supposed to use the same kill message as the FAV.

Special Forces[]

The Pickup Truck is a vehicle featured in the Battlefield 2: Special Forces expansion, based on a grey 1980's Toyota Hilux pickup truck. It is used by all factions in the expansion pack. The Pickup Truck is fast, but comes at the cost of armor, as it is very easy to destroy one, taking as few as one rocket or mine to destroy one. Each Pickup Truck is equipped with a M2 Browning on the bed of the truck and a RPK-74, which is located on the dashboard. The Pickup Truck is the equivalent of the DPV, FAV and AIL Raider.
