Metal Island is the fifth mission in the singleplayer campaign for Battlefield 2: Modern Combat.

Mission Briefing[]

With the enemy submarines destroyed, the battle for the sea could now go either way and it is a battle we must win. In response to our victory, NATO forces are moving on our oil platform and island position at Site Four. You will defend that platform and island at all costs. You have your mission. Proceed with it.

Synopsis[]

In this mission, the player is a member of the People's Liberation Army. The mission is to defend an oilrig and a nearby island. The enemies in this mission are European Union Commandos. The player starts out on the oilrig. In 30 seconds or so enemies will start to be inserted by parachute onto the oilrig; Once the oilrig is successfully defended, enemies will start spawning at the island. Once the island is defended the oilrig will be under attack again and enemies will spawn via parachute. Kill all of the paratroopers. There will be a slight break in the battle before a UH-60 Black Hawk. At this stage the player must shoot it down with FIM-92 Stingers before it drops its paratroopers. Then both the oilrig and the island will be under attack simultaneously. Two UH-60's will appear to provide air support to the EU forces. This is when the naval combat begins; both enemy and friendly PBL's will appear. Once the oilrig and island are secure, an airborne assault will begin; 4 UH-60s will appear. Destroy them and the mission is complete.
