Colt Pocket Hammerless IRL

A Colt Pocket Hammerless in reality

The Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless is a semi-automatic pistol designed by John Browning and built by Colt Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. Despite the title 'Hammerless', the Model 1903 does have a hammer; it is covered and hidden from view under the rear of the slide. This allowed the pistol to be carried in, and withdrawn from, a pocket quickly and smoothly without snagging. Approximately 570,000 pistols were produced from 1903 to 1945, in five different types. Some were issued to US Army and US Air Force general officers from World War II through the 1970s. They were replaced in 1972 with the RIA Colt M15 General Officer's Model, a compact version of the M1911A1.[1]

Battlefield 1[]

This item has a Codex entry: 1903 Hammerless
"An American-made compact pistol. It was the first pistol ever with a grip safety. During WW1 over 24,000 were ordered by the Belgian army."

— In-game description

The 1903 Hammerless is a weapon featured in Battlefield 1.[2] It is only available for the Assault kit.

The 1903 Hammerless has noticeably lower damage than the M1911 and Model 1903, though it does have a slightly higher magazine capacity. Additionally, the 1903 has an extremely high rate of fire (tied with the Frommer Stop, Modello 1915 and Taschenpistole M1914).Thus, the 1903 Hammerless fills the role of low-damage, high rate-of-fire pistol for the Assault kit.
