LCAC

An LCAC in reality.

The Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) is a class of air-cushion vehicle (hovercraft) used as landing craft by the United States Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). They transport weapons systems, equipment, cargo and personnel of the assault elements of the Marine Air/Ground Task Force both from ship to shore and across the beach.

Battlefield 2[]

BF1 Trash Cut content
The subject of this article, LCAC, has been cut from the final version of Battlefield 2.

The LCAC was a cut vehicle for Battlefield 2. It most likely would have been used by the USMC on maps where the USS Essex (LHD-2) appeared, as a way to transport land vehicles from the Essex to the shoreline. It probably would have functioned like a larger version of the LCVP and Daihatsu of Battlefield 1942.

Despite its absence, there are some remnants of the LCAC which can be found in the game files. Specifically, there are two sound clips called LCAC_explosion_01 and LCAC_explosion_02 and two localization strings — one for the vehicle kill message, and the other a help message indicating the buttons which would have been used to raise and lower the ramp.

Battlefield 3[]

LCAC Hovercraft

Two LCAC Hovercrafts seen in the Battlefield 3 Multiplayer trailer.

The LCAC Hovercraft make an appearance after the first set of bases on Kharg Island in Rush and Conquest, and function as the spawn points for USMC ground vehicles: the M1 AbramsHMMWVs, and Growler ITVs. They are spotted to the right of the carrier before the first base is neutralized, and cannot be driven by the player.

The LCAC also appears in the Armored Kill expansion on Bandar Desert in Rush. It carries two M1128 Tank Destroyers. The LCAC's don't spawn on shores but instead drive up to them shortly after the first deployment.

Battlefield 4[]

The LCAC reappears in Battlefield 4's single-player mission Singapore, where it is launched from the USS Valkyrie with an onboard M1A2 Abrams.

In multiplayer, it appears in the Obliteration version of Lancang Dam as a static environment object, in the half-sunken state.
