An Anti-Tank Grenade is a specialized grenade used to damage or penetrate armored targets. Due to their high explosive yield and weight, they have a short range and limited uses. Despite this, they can be used to take targets by surprise. Anti-Tank Grenades were used extensively during World War I and World War II. A notable example is the German Model 24 Stielhandgranate. The Germans were the first to come up with an improvised anti-tank grenade by taking a stick grenade and taping three or more of the explosive heads together in order to create a larger grenade and explosion. Known as the Geballte Ladung or "Bundled Charge", it was typically thrown on top of slow moving tanks where the armor was thin. In the modern era, Anti-Tank grenades have become largely obsolete due to the introduction of rocket propelled grenades and are ineffective against modern tanks. However, they are still effective against light armored vehicles.

The Geballte Ladung is depicted in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V as “Anti-Tank Grenade”. The No 2 grenade Mk II without its stabilizing cloth streamers as “Light Anti-Tank Grenade” in Battlefield 1. The RKG-3 served as “Anti-Tank Grenade” in Battlefield 2042.

Battlefield 1[]

Two kinds of Anti-Tank Grenade are featured in Battlefield 1.[1]

Anti-Tank Grenade[]

"This bundle of grenades will detonate upon contact with a vehicle to deal significant damage."

— In-game description

The Anti-Tank Grenade is a gadget available to the Assault, Tanker and Tank Hunter kits, for engaging armor at close range.

It inflicts moderate damage to armor, and can also destroy walls. Two grenades are provided. They can immediately damage armor upon impact with a vehicle (including a Horse), but also have a time-delay fuze and can deliver significant splash damage.

Anti-tank grenades also appear in singleplayer during certain infantry missions.

Light Anti-Tank Grenade[]

"This grenade offers improved damage against vehicles by sacrificing anti-infantry performance.

Will detonate immediately when hitting a vehicle." — In-game description

A Light Anti-Tank Grenade is available to all infantry kits as a grenade option.[2]. The Cavalry class also carries one as part of its kit. As it fills the grenade slot, Assault kits can carry it along with the larger Anti-Tank Grenade gadget for additional anti-vehicle capability.

Players riding a horse carry two Light Anti-Tank Grenades which automatically replenish.

The grenade is modeled after the Hales Pattern No 2 grenade Mk II, without its stabilizing cloth streamers.

Battlefield V[]

"M24 Geballte Ladung. This bundle of grenades will detonate upon contact with a vehicle to deal significant damage."

— In-game description

The Anti-Tank Bundle Grenade is a gadget featured in Battlefield V.

Singleplayer[]

In the War Story The Last Tiger, United States Army shocktroops will throw Anti-Tank Bundle Grenade at the player's Tiger tank if they drive too close.

Multiplayer[]

In multiplayer, the Anti-Tank Bundle Grenade occupies the grenade slot for the Assault kit. It remains functionally and aesthetically unchanged from its Battlefield 1 counterpart. Once thrown, the grenade features a similar time until detonation to the Frag Grenade, but with reduced blast effect against infantry.

Upon impact with an enemy vehicle or carefully aimed gunfire, it will immediately detonate. As with other gadgets, the Anti-Tank Bundle Grenade can only be resupplied at an Ammo Supply Station. Live enemy grenades can be thrown aside by pressing Interact near the grenade.

Battlefield 2042[]

"Anti-vehicle grenade that triggers upon impact with any enemy vehicle, dealing substantial damage."

— In-game description

The Anti-Tank Grenade is a throwable gadget featured in Battlefield 2042, introduced in New Dawn season. Player can unlock the gadget by reaching tier 22 in the Battle Pass.

Available to Engineer only. Player can carry only 1 grenade at a time and able to resupply with Ammo Crate. The grenade will detonate immediately after impacting enemy vehicle. Normally, Anti-Tank Grenade deals about 20 damage to ground armored vehicles, and cannot achieve one-hit-kill to light vehicles like LATV4 Recon or Tuk-tuk. Its anti-personnel capability is quite limited, as it is not able to kill the crew when throwed to a LATV4; when dropped to the ground, the Anti-Tank Grenade has a delayed timer for about 5 seconds, and can be throwed back just like a Frag Grenade.

However, when held by player, the Anti-Tank Grenade will not have a timer to detonate, which means cannot "cook" the grenade for better anti-personnel efficiency (similar to regular frag grenades). On the other hand, this also gives the player a chance to wait for the best opportunity when fighting against vehicles.

Trivia[]

Battlefield 2042[]

  • Anti-Tank grenades used to have a bug that could bounce off a vehicle without detonation while the vehicle was moving away from the thrower. This was fixed in Update 5.2.0.
