The Arleigh Burke-Class Guided Missile Destroyers (DDGs) are the United States Navy's first class of destroyer built around the Aegis combat system and the SPY-1D multi-function phased array radar. The class is named for Admiral Arleigh "31-Knot" Burke, the most famous American destroyer officer of World War II, and later Chief of Naval Operations. Admiral Burke was alive when the class leader, the USS Arleigh Burke, was commissioned.

The first ship of the class was commissioned on 4 July 1991. With the decommissioning of the last Spruance-class destroyer, USS Cushing, on 21 September 2005, the Arleigh Burke-class ships became the U.S. Navy's only active destroyers and the class has the longest production run for any US Navy surface combatant.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2[]

Arleigh Burke-Class Destroyers in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 appear on the map, Isla Inocentes, along with Oliver Hazard Perry-Class Frigates and do not have any significant roles other than being the targets of the Russian anti-ship missile launchers if the US team loses the round.

Battlefield 3[]

Arleigh Burke-Class Destroyers are first seen in the Battlefield 3: Launch Trailer and are a part of the United States Navy Carrier Strike Group in the Persian Gulf along with Oliver Hazard Perry-Class Frigates and other US Navy vessels.

At least one ship, the USS Preble (DDG-88), can be identified from the Arleigh Burke class in the mission Going Hunting.

They also make an appearance in multiplayer maps as static objects that may randomly launch their missiles.

Appearences[]

Battlefield 4[]

Arleigh Burke-Class Destroyers are featured in both in singleplayer and multiplayer modes of Battlefield 4.

Singleplayer[]

In the South China Sea mission, several Arleigh Burke-class ships can be seen being sunk by Chinese aircraft as the player returns to the USS Valkyrie.

Many Arleigh Burke-class ships can be seen with the USS Valkyrie on the final mission of the campaign, Suez.

Multiplayer[]

Arleigh Burke-class ships can be seen on Paracel Storm, one of which is caught on nearby wind mill, serving as the map's main Levolution event. Once the hurricane has reached the area and the windmill the ship is caught on is destroyed, it will break loose and proceed to head toward Charlie. It is then that it is beached, destroying much of the base but also allowing the Commander of the base's controlling team to utilize the ship's anti-aircraft artillery.

The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Preble DDG-88 can be seen on the map Siege of Shanghai, launching Tomahawks from its VLS.
