Statistics

Source: Quantcast

  • I'm very happy to report that, after the falling readership at the end of October, readership has not fallen since the start of November. In fact, since November 4, readership has peaked to it's highest level since the start of October and is still increasing. The highest traffic seen was 2.0k on the 6th, with an average over the past week of 2.0k.

  • The overall downward trend seen since May, reported last week to have intensified since September, appears now to have stopped. For the first time in over 6 months, average readership this week is up since last week.

Poppy

Just as an addition to the usual stuff, I'd like to take the time to mention the 11th of November; Poppy, Armistice or Remembrance Day in the Commonwealth and Veteran's Day in the US, which is, of course, on Thursday. I think it's important, as a warfare based wiki, that the horrors of war are remembered and reflected when we play or edit, especially at this time. As I have a cousin in the Royal Air Force, I'd especially like to take this opportunity to celebrate, on behalf of the wiki, the incredibly courageous work done by military personnel around the world, in the past and today, for which we should all be eternally grateful.

I agree. We should always remember the sacrifices that our forefathers (to use an American phrase) have made to bring us up in a safe environment. As for a way to remember this, I say for the 11th, someone redecorates the background to be one with poppies instead of the normal picture, just as a thought.

Not to sound rude, but how are poppies involved? YuriKaslov 20:12, November 8, 2010 (UTC)
You mean to say you have never seen a british Journalist/TV presenter with a paper/plastic poppy on their chest? It's a British/Canadian symbol to remember the dead and wounded from all modern wars.

Well by this point I kinda figured you knew I was not British, so I wouldn't know that. YuriKaslov 20:27, November 8, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, you don't have them in the US. But Pete, I think that's a great idea. I'll look into the feasibility. - Bondpedia (ContactContributions) Administrator and BureaucratVeteranUser of the Month: July 2010 20:35, November 8, 2010 (UTC)
Yay! I had a good idea!

If I recall, the symbol of a poppy comes from a poem; "In Flanders Fields" I think it was. SSDGFCTCT9 (Talk) Poppy Honour the sacrifices Poppy 21:19, November 8, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it does. Anyway, as good an idea as it was, I can't find a JPG image under 100KB that would fill the whole background. It was a great idea though - Poppy Bondpedia (ContactContributions) 00:20, November 11, 2010 (UTC)
Amen to that, sir. Heh, this might sound ridiculous, but I usually don't even play video games on the 11th, just because I can't bring myself to play a war game with those thoughts in my head. Anyways, I'll be wearing a poppy on Thursday. On our wiki status, it's nice to see that we had a nice little surge in activity over the weekend.
