This was brought up in a convo between myself and H2 a few days ago, who asked if I thought we should ban these wishlist/what do you want blogs that seem to be cropping up every other day now. (I think I said "I dunno")
I'm not particularly in favor of a full-scale ban (maybe admin-run "what do you want" blogs to cut down on the volume?), but I wanted to get a feel from the other admins and users about whether this should potentially be brought up for a vote, or if it would be too unpopular to even get out of the gate.
So, just share your thoughts on the idea. Йура

Admin-run would be nice, or maybe certain individuals can have a blog designated for wishes for future games (IIRC Zeph wanted to be community manager, so a position like that could be used to manage stuff like this).

I don't believe they belong on blogs. Maybe we could create another tier to the forums, one for serious matters and one for stuff like that. DrRichtofen (Talk) 15:49, May 15, 2012 (UTC)
- Well we had subforums for the longest time and only recently got rid of them specifically because nobody uses them. Problem seems to be that blogs are, I guess, either more familiar or more accessible to "regular" users. Йура

It certainly is becoming an issue. I get people want to have a little fun every once and a while, but it's getting obnoxious seeing the activity feed filled with (IMO) useless blogs. Doesn't help that I've posted in some, but my point still stands. And Yuri is correct on removing the other Forum sections. They were seldom used as blogs were becoming more popular over time to where they are now. We entertained the idea of banning some useless ones a while ago, with I believe HP partaking in some before he disappeared. Seeing as I'll have a lot more free time on my hands this summer, I could help in this regard, so long as we decide what should and shouldn't be posted.

- I'd be for creating a community manager usergroup, who are appointed to handle such things. Йура

- Second. I remember Zephalian saying he wanted to be a community manager, but after I gave him chat moderator powers per request, he disappeared for a while. Perhaps we can put a blog up about this to attract attention if we want to actually have a community manager.

- I wouldn't say you need a group. Create the rule then anyone with the tools can remove them when they need to be. DrRichtofen (Talk) 09:20, May 20, 2012 (UTC)
