With yet another idea from Call of Duty Wiki, I was thinking of a game template that could be associated with articles.
So, it's basically an icon on top of the page in a corner in form of a template (just like the article classification), with it telling in which games the subject of the article appears. For example, if there was a weapon that appeared in Battlefield 1942, Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3, there would be three icons with all showing the games it's in.
To see the template in action, take this as an example. It lists that Dragunov appears in CoD4, CoD4 DS, MW2, BO, BO DS, Zombies, MW3 and MW3 DS. (The Zombies wasn't originally classified as a game for this template as it's technically not, it was later decided through a discussion.)
As there's the classification template on the right side, the game template could be on the right side.
I'm fairly certain we've had a discussion on this before... I dunno. With some of the stuff in these games, it could end up clashing with the class templates, which wouldn't be good. Йура 16:19, February 28, 2012 (UTC)
I think it wouldn't be a bad idea. It would be easy to see at a glance what games the article is associated with. I've done some testing with top right icons and they do not seem to clash, so they could be implemented. h2seaspriteBlahBlahBlahContribs 21:30, February 28, 2012 (UTC)
It doesn't have any usefulness in my mind, why tag it when you can see on the contents list or the article's first paragraph? Not only that, I'm getting the feeling it would interfere with the BF:CLASS templates, and I'd like to not have my job of reviewing and controlling them any harder. Other than that, I find it purely cosmetic, a bit misleading and, in the end, one of the things that draw us closer to the CoD Wiki, which makes this wiki get to the point where it starts losing its own identity IMO. I'm kind of against it as of now... --Pedro9basket (talk) [ ] 21:44, February 28, 2012 (UTC)
TBH I dont really see any use of it. Like Pedro said its purely cosmetic, we already have a template page for all weapons and cut content or is it that hard for some people to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find out what weapon is feutured in what game.--SlopijoeHangarsISAF Log 22:20, February 28, 2012 (UTC)
Personally, when I introduced the classification template, twas a modification of the CoDW's top-right template. At that time, we debated having a similar template, but we thought it was not necessary, so long as people scroll down until the contents section, which frankly isn't that labourious (seeing as on most pages it's at the bottom of the screen... I still think its not super necessary, nor would it add so much to the page. Plus, Pedro's idea on the identity of the wiki is valid. HeatedPete - 21:23, March 6, 2012 (UTC)
