Guilin Peaks (Chinese: 桂林群山) is a map featured in the Battlefield 4 expansion, China Rising. Its most distinctive features are the tall karst formations resembling massive stone skyscrapers, and the network of caves that run through them.
The map consists of a tropical forest located in Guilin, China. In the center of the map are two large karst formations that the map is distinctively known for. When in the caves in and around the karsts, close-quarters engagements are common, but when running around the outer objectives, long-range engagements are possible.

US Deployment Edit
In Conquest Large, regarding the map that reveals the large surrounding area of the actual map, the American deployment is located southwest of the central karst formations next to rice paddies and foliage, and also is the closest to Storage and the Com Station (objectives A and B in Conquest Large). However, in Conquest it is situated where the Water Supply (objective C in Conquest Large), placing US forces much closer to the central objectives than before.
CN Deployment Edit
In Conquest Large, regarding the map that reveals the large surrounding area of the actual map, the Chinese deployment is situated northwest of the karsts in the center of the map, and like the US deployment, the Chinese are placed next to multiple rice paddies and a river. This position gives the PLA easy access to the Outpost and the Square (objectives F and G in Conquest Large). However, in Conquest the CN deployment is placed northwest of the mountains.
Storage is one of the westernmost objectives in Conquest Large, with the other being objective Echo (the Sheds) to the north. Primarily, objective A consists of several warehouses and a few shelters with sheet metal roofing, as well as 2 sheds in the southwest corner. To the north of this capture point, there are multiple terraces meant for farming crops. Several shelters dot the landscape, offering some cover among the terraces. When captured, both a Dirt Bike and a Quad Bike spawn here.
Com Station Edit
The Com Station is directly south of the Cave (objective D in Conquest Large), and as the name suggests, it represents a military-grade communications outpost. The surrounding area consists of several green military cargo containers as well as bunkers. The easternmost box has several antennas on it, and is most likely the actual com center. To the north, there is a small windmill, and in the middle, there is a large open area, with tables and boxes providing minimal cover. The southernmost part of the flag has 2 oil tanks that can be destroyed via explosives. A Dirt Bike and a Quad Bike spawn here when the objective is commandeered.
Water Supply Edit
The southernmost objective, the Water Supply is only a capture point in Conquest Large, and serves as the US deployment in standard Conquest. There are eight water tanks in the eastern part of the flag zone. Behind these tanks is a water tower with a warehouse next to it, along with several scattered bags. Not only that, but there are also two small shelters with sheet-metal roofing. When captured, a Dirt Bike and a Quad Bike spawn here.
The Cave is undoubtedly one of, if not the most, valuable flag on the map. Along with having access to the cruise missile, it also houses the air-raid bunker in close proximity. The layout of the flag is a large cave, with multiple streams in it. Pathways can take players from the objective to exits of the cave all over the map. There are 2 wooden shelter areas, one on either side of the air-raid bunker. Several military cargo boxes are places around the outdoor portion of the flag.
On the entire map, objective Echo is the northernmost capture point. However, it is only seen as an objective in Conquest Large, and the Sheds serve as the Chinese deployment in both Obliteration and Conquest. The area surrounding the objective is taken up by several small warehouses, as well as two old pickup trucks and piles of wood. To the north, there are a few more shelters that provide adequate cover. When captured, 2 Quad Bikes spawn as a result.
The Outpost is located directly north of the central karst formations, and as the name suggests, serves as a military outpost. H-barriers are present to provide cover during firefights. However, the area is mostly open with the exception of the northern flank, which has a small shed and several cargo containers. Players that are at the Outpost are susceptible to fire from all sides due to the open area in and around the flag zone. When captured, both a Dirt Bike and a Quad Bike spawn.
Situated east of the karsts, objective Golf is mostly boxed in by houses on each side of it. The Square possesses an excellent strategic location due to its proximity to a tunnel that leads to the Cave (objective D in Conquest Large). In the actual 'square' of the flag, there is military-grade equipment scattered about, as well as explosive fuel barrels and propane tanks. After its capture, a Quad Bike spawns as a result.
Stage 1 Edit
In the first stage, the attackers advance westwards to reach the first set of MCOMs. As they attack, the USMC engages the PLA in the area surrounding the storage complex (objective A in Conquest Large). The first objective is located at the entrance of the caves on the wooden staircases, while its counterpart objective lies in the center of storage.
The USMC deploys from where the communications array (objective B in Conquest Large) is stationed. In order to reach the first MCOMs, the attackers could either assault the objectives by taking the dirt roads to get there, or they could flank through the caves and end up directly at objective Alpha. No vehicles are given to the attackers during the first phase.
The PLA spawns up the road from storage, giving them quick and easy access to the MCOMs. Considering that MCOM Bravo is stationed where buildings and shelters are present, it is possible for the defenders to draw the attackers into a close-quarters engagement, whereas for MCOM Alpha, the abundance of foliage can provide natural cover and concealment for ambush. Like the USMC, the PLA is given no vehicles during Stage 1.
Stage 2 Edit
If the attackers are able to successfully take the first set of objectives, the PLA is forced to fall back in order to defend their second set of MCOMs, this time placed around the area of the caves (objective D in Conquest Large). MCOM Alpha is placed in the middle of the stretch of land dividing the two karsts. in between several supply crates, which act as cover. MCOM Bravo is located the entrance to the caves closest to the air-raid bunker would be in Conquest Large. Like MCOM Alpha in the first set of objectives, the second objective of Stage 2 is placed on wooden staircases and scaffolding.
The deployment for the USMC actually doesn't change at all; it remains at the communications facility. However, because of the remaining troops over where the previous set of MCOMs were, they are able to attack the second set of objectives by either cutting through the caves and attacking from the west, or taking the roads up to the objectives from their deployment and assaulting them from the southern flank. As in the first stage, no vehicles are issued to the attackers.
The PLA, being pushed back after losing the first set of objectives, deploys 100 meters north of where their objectives are. However, the defenders must be wary of attackers coming from either the west or the south, because of the two possible places the attackers could be in. Just like the USMC, the PLA is unable to use any vehicles during Stage 2.
Stage 3 Edit
On the third and final set of MCOMs the Chinese are pushed back all the way to the area of the square (objective G in Conquest Large) in order to establish a final defense against the opposing forces. MCOM Alpha and MCOM Bravo are both placed close to shelters, which creates a CQB environment if the attackers are to plant the charges on the objectives.
Just like the first two stages, the USMC deployment stays where it is, although paths are opened up so that the attackers are able to reach the last set of MCOMs by either following the roads past the water supply (objective C in Conquest Large) or fight through the karsts to reach the square from the west. Unlike the previous stages, however, the USMC is given access to both several Dirt Bikes and Quad Bikes for the final assault.
The PLA is forced to retreat to defend their final set of MCOMs around the square. Likewise, their deployment is pushed all the way back to the area northeast of the where their objectives are. Considering that both objectives are in an area where shelters and foliage are present, there are numerous positions to set up flanking and ambush positions. Finally, the defending forces, unlike the USMC, still have no access to any vehicles whatsoever.
The Team Deathmatch gamemode is present in the entire area of the karsts and a bit beyond. When comparing the actual play area in the smaller gamemodes than to Conquest Large, it remains largely the same. However, there are more objects that could be used for potential cover if a firefight occurs. This is also present in the Squad Deathmatch and Domination gamemodes.
Squad Deathmatch Edit
The Squad Deathmatch gamemode is present in the entire area of the karsts and a bit beyond. When comparing the actual play area in the smaller gamemodes than to Conquest Large, it remains largely the same. However, there are more objects that could be used for potential cover if a firefight occurs. This is also present in the Team Deathmatch and Domination gamemodes.

Obliteration utilizes the same area used during standard Conquest. The bomb tends to spawn in the center of the map around the karsts, leading to intense firefights for possession of the bomb. USMC forces have MCOM stations placed on the southern side of the map. MCOM Alpha is placed at the location of the communications array (objective B in Conquest Large), MCOM Bravo is situated in-between MCOMs Alpha and Charlie on the dirt road, and MCOM Charlie is at the square (objective G in Conquest Large).
PLA forces, on the other hand have MCOM stations situated on the northern side, with MCOM Alpha in-between MCOMs Bravo and Charlie, MCOM Bravo at the outpost (objective F in Conquest Large), and MCOM Charlie at the storage complex (objective A in Conquest Large). Both teams have their MCOMs relatively close to one-another, and although infantry can reach the objectives on their own, the use of the helicopters and the light vehicles could help significantly. The US and CN deployments are the same as in Conquest.
Air Superiority Edit
This map has one objective in Air Superiority, and because of the gamemode, the map's borders have been increased to accommodate aerial warfare.

US Deployment Edit
The US deployment, regarding the diagram that reveals the large surrounding area of the actual map, is located in the northeast reaches of the area near the north river.
CN Deployment Edit
The CN deployment, regarding the diagram that reveals the large surrounding area of the actual map, is located close to the southwestern river.
Objective A Edit
The only objective on the entire map in Air Superiority, it is floating in between the two central karst formations. Due to the nature of where the blimp is placed, if being locked on to by another attack helicopter, one can easily maneuver around the peaks and break the lock.
The Domination gamemode is present in the entire area of the karsts and a bit beyond. When comparing the actual play area in the smaller gamemodes than to Conquest Large, it remains largely the same. However, there are more objects that could be used for potential cover if a firefight occurs. This is also present in the Team and Squad Deathmatch gamemodes.
The Cave is the easternmost objective, and is located inside of the big cave which is objective Delta in Conquest Large. Just like the latter, there is an abundance of foliage and natural cover which can serve as protection during a firefight.
Objective Bravo is located west of the Cave, and is also the northernmost objective in Domination. The setting consists of a wide cave opening with a stream running downhill into the cave, hence the name of the Cascade. In the surrounding area, there are three green military cargo boxes outside of the cave, as well as a Buddhist temple. The natural rocks provide good cover when defending the flag.
The westernmost objective of the three, the Clearing is in the middle of an open space with multiple military equipment boxes spread out, which can provide cover when a firefight occurs. Although there isn't much foliage present, there still is a good number of rocks which provide good cover when either attacking or defending the flag.
Like in Domination and the Deathmatch gamemodes, Defuse is present in the entire area of the karsts and a bit beyond. The USMC spawns at the southwest corner of the map, with the bomb spawning in close proximity. The PLA spawns in the northeast corner of the area inside the caves, opposite the USMC.
Both MCOMs are located inside the actual compound; MCOM Alpha is at the entrance to one of the caves and although it has a few rocks in the general vicinity, it is relatively open. On the other hand, MCOM Bravo is bordering a small radar dish, with several crates nearby that can serve as cover.
- An East Asian figurine can be found in the stream within the cave.
- A Buddha warrior figure can be found in the tail of the crashed plane near objective E in conquest.
- At the water supply and the sheds (objectives C and E in Conquest Large), there are multiple 20 kg bags that are marked with "Tax-Shrimp Saturated Grain" and are 'Certified' with "Works on my machine."
- This is the only map in the entire Battlefield franchise that has attack helicopters engage each other in Air Superiority rather than stealth jets.
- The full song for the loading screen is called "A Theme for Kjell," a song dedicated to Kjell Reuterswärd, a DICE Engineer who died in a serious car accident during development. It is also used in the campaign when Irish is reminded of all the people aboard the USS Valkyrie that he saved.
