The Heavy Assault is a kit featured in Battlefield Vietnam. It is an anti-tank and heavy weapons kit, and is in effect a more niched version of the basic Assault.

Battlefield Vietnam[]

The US Army, USMC, and ARVN all have the same loadouts as one another. They roughly correspond to the positions of grenadier and anti-tank. MACV is mostly the same, but rather has a different handgun, and the addition of a medical kit, which adds the ability to perform as a medic as well as the aforementioned roles.

The opposite layout of the NVA and Viet Cong kits offers the same role as one of the two options offered to the US and ARVN kits, although the second layout performs a significantly different role of anti-air combat, wielding the only anti-air infantry weapon in the game.

World War II Mod[]

In the Battlefield Vietnam World War II Mod the Heavy Assault kit reappears with the first loadout being identical to the Anti-Tank kit in Battlefield 1942, while the second loadout being issued semi-automatic rifles and Mortar.

Trivia[]

  • In the initial release, the US Heavy Assault had the M60 and LAW in the same kit. This proved extremely unbalanced and the 1.1 patch both altered the sniper-like accuracy of the M60 and swapped out the LAW for the M79.
  • Internally, while individual kits for each faction are named HeavyAssault, their type and their HUD icons are labelled as AT, an abbreviation for Anti-Tank from Battlefield 1942. This is due to Battlefield Vietnam reusing code from Battlefield 1942.
