chment in Battlefield 3 that increases long range accuracy during aimed fire by reducing barrel whip. However, the use of heavy Match Rounds increases the vertical recoil. Match Rounds do not increase the overall damage of the weapon, but do increase the speed of the rounds in certain weapons.
In reality, a heavy barrel would increase both accuracy and recoil control in both single and full auto shots, at the cost of added weight, weight balance issues, and as a result, difficulty maneuvering the weapon especially in close quarters. For this reason, only marksman-associated weapons such as the Mk 12 Special Purpose Rifle, commonly used by the US Navy SEALs, are fitted with barrels heavier than the standard manufacturing brand. However, since weight doesn't play a major role in Battlefield 3, DICE most likely altered its penalties for game balancing.
