A real-life Ka-25.

The Ka-25 Hormone was a Soviet naval helicopter designed in the late 1950s and early 1960s by the Kamov Design Bureau. It was designed for the Soviet Navy as an anti-submarine helicopter. Though not used on a widespread basis, small numbers were exported to Vietnam, Syria, India and former Yugoslavia.

"Ka-25 'Hormone' is an attack helicopter used by the NVA. It carries chain guns and heat seeking missiles, and also benefits from the addition of radar in the nose."

— 1.1 patch notes

The Ka-25 Hormone is issued to the North Vietnamese Army as its scout helicopter in Battlefield Vietnam. It was added in the 1.1 patch, and appears exclusively on the map Defense of Con Thien. It's similar to the AH-1G Huey Cobra in function and performance. It has space for two players: one pilot who drives the vehicle and is armed with two side-mounted machine guns with 400 rounds, has one co-pilot who has control over two rocket pods with 20 rockets in reserve, and is the only helicopter that features radar.

The Ka-25 is fast and easily maneuverable, and has light armament, as it can only fire one rocket per reload, making it ideal for hit-and-run mission. Compared to the other NVA attack helicopter, the Mi-8 Hip, it lacks significantly in firepower, and therefore cannot engage armored units with much efficiency, but its machine guns can make it more suitable for aerial combat, as it's easy to miss an enemy helicopter with rockets.

When Compared to its American counterpart, the OH-6 Loach, the Loach has superior maneuverability and speed, the ability to have a second engineer weapon of choice (an engineer can repair in-flight) and is a smaller target. However the Ka-25 has superior armament against vehicles and infantry.
