The Winchester Model 1887 is an American lever-action Shotgun designed by John Browning in 1887. As most shotguns at the time were Double Barreled, the 1887 was created due to demand for a repeating shotgun by lawmen and cowboys. The shotgun utilized the lever-action operation that Winchester's rifles were known for and became very popular with Law Enforcement and gunslingers, although the military would go on to prefer Browning's later model 1897 pump-action shotgun. Modern versions of the shotgun are reproductions created to fire modern smokeless shotshells, as the original weapon can only chamber black powder shells.

Battlefield Hardline[]

The 1887 is an all-kit shotgun introduced in the Battlefield Hardline: Getaway expansion. The 1887 has only two unique attachments to equip, the Short Barrel and Sawed Off Stock, and can only equip metallic paints.

The 1887 fills a unique role as being the only shotgun available to all classes, and can be useful for Operators and Professionals having to fight at close ranges. Compared to its counterparts, the 1887 has a rather slow reload and cycle speed compared to the pump-actions, but deals high damage and has good accuracy for a shotgun.

The 1887, along with the other three classic weapon introduced in expansion are required to unlock the Syndicate Gun and complete the Syndicate Program.

Trivia[]

BFHL 1887 spincock

Spin-cocking

  • When both the Short Barrel and Sawed Off Stock are equipped, the 1887's action is worked by spinning the shotgun after each shot. The animation is reused from one of the hidden cocking animations for Battlefield 4's Mare's Leg.
  • This is a reference to the film Terminator 2: Judgement Day, which popularized flip-cocking lever-action firearms in the mainstream. The T-800 in the film uses a sawed-off 1887 as one of his primary weapons for most of the film, and usually spin-cocks the shotgun to cycle it.
    • The achievement "I'll Be Back!", awarded for earning a gold star with the 1887, is another reference to the Terminator franchise, referring to the T-800's iconic line.
  • Despite having a full stock and barrel by default, the 1887's pick-up icon and menu artwork always show it in its sawed-off configuration.
  • Non-empty reloads for the 1887 incorrectly shows the user immediately inserting shells into the shotgun off-screen, as the weapon's action is shut which prevents access to its magazine tube and chamber.
