Operation Aberdeen (Arabic: عملية ابردين) was a sub-battle of the Gazala campaign. It is a map featured in Battlefield 1942, released in patch 1.31.

Conquest[]

The map contains 5 capturable, neutral flags including a small town. There are 2 capturable bases, one each for the German and British forces.

The map is largely tank-based, due to the terrain and availability. There are several medium tanks (M4A1 Sherman, Panzer IV) and also heavy tanks and artillery.

The map focuses on armored combat. Artillery can also be quite useful.

Bases[]

German Base[]

The German starting point at the southwest of the map. It spawns six Panzer IV, two Tigers, a Wespe, two stationary MG 42 and a Defgun.

British Base[]

The British starting point at the northeast of the map. As a direct reflection of the German base, it spawns six Shermans, two M10, a Priest, two stationary Brownings and a Defgun.

South outpost[]

A neutral control point in the southeast, near the center south. It spawns a Wespe and Panzer IV under German control, or a Priest and Sherman under British control.

West outpost[]

A neutral control point in the center, slightly to the west. It spawns two Panzer IV under German control, or two Shermans under British control.

North outpost[]

A neutral control point in the northwest, near the center north. It spawns a Priest and Sherman under British control, or a Wespe and Panzer IV under German control.

East outpost[]

A neutral control point in the center, slightly to the east. It spawns two Shermans under British control, or two Panzer IV under German control.

The City[]

A neutral control point in the direct center. It spawns no vehicles.

Trivia[]

  • This is the only Hybrid Head-on map in base Battlefield 1942.
    • However, it was planned that this map would be regular Head-on, as evident in the code of both main bases having the following line being commented out: rem ObjectTemplate.unableToChangeTeam 1
  • As this map has seven capturable flags, it is not possible to send a radio order with F4 to attack/defend one of the flags, as this command has only space for six flags (F4 being the closest flag to the player, and F8 cancelling the command).
