The Phalanx CIWS.
The Phalanx CIWS is an Anti-Air turret found on some American, British, and Canadian warships such as the USS Essex and the HMS Ocean. The Turret is a CIWS (Close-In Weapons System) that acts as Point Defense against Anti-Ship missiles. It can be manually controlled by a gunner or computer controlled, allowing it to autonomously detect, track, and engage targets. The turret's armament comprises a 20mm autocannon capable of firing rounds at a rate of 4,500 rounds per minute with a 360 degree firing arc and a Missile Launcher loaded with 8 Anti-Air missiles.

The Phalanx CIWS made its first appearance in Battlefield 2. It is an anti-aircraft weapon, an immobile minigun with a rapid rate of fire and moderate damage. It appears on maps that have the USS Essex in it, like Iron Gator and Wake Island 2007.
