The Messerschmitt Bf 109 gave inspiration to the National Army Plane

The Plane is a usable vehicle in Battlefield Heroes. The Plane has been used in aerial warfare and during reconnaissance missions since World War I. However, World War II brought out the larger use of dogfighting and bombing raids. World War II was shaped by planes, from the Battle of Britain, to the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the end of the war with the Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Battlefield HeroesEdit

The plane in Battlefield Heroes is used for both transport and combat. The plane can hold three players, one pilot and two passengers. The pilot flies the plane and fires the two machine guns of the plane while the passengers sit on the wings and use their personal weapons to attack enemy infantry, tanks, jeeps and other planes.

The plane, when used as a method of transport, can either land in an area of interest to drop off passengers (and/or the pilot) or, more commonly, fly over an area of interest and allow the passengers (and/or pilot) to bail out of the plane and parachute to safety.

When used in combat, the plane can use its machine guns, along with its passengers weapons, to fire at opposing players and vehicles. The machine guns are most useful against stationary vehicles and other planes, as the pinpoint accuracy of the weapons, combined with the small size of player characters, results in a drop off in effectiveness against opposing players. Against tanks, the plane's machine guns are very effective from all sides, as the machine guns have no overheat, resulting in the pilot being able to fire continually against an enemy vehicle/player. The plane can also kill infantry by "Wing Clipping" them with the plane's wings.

The weapon armament of the Supermarine Spitfire is a modified M1919 Browning aka "MK II Browning 0.303"

Messerschmitt Bf 109 has an dual mount MG17 machine gun - in game firing at 180 rpm per gun

Royal ArmyEdit

Royal Plane

A Royal Army Plane

The Royal Army Plane is based on the British Supermarine Spitfire. Its main body paint is a woodland camouflage, with a shark mouth on the bottom of its nose. It has a roundel on its side, similar to the one used by the Royal Air Force on its planes, as well as large white stars on the wings, similar to those used by the United States Army Air Force during World War II.

National ArmyEdit

National Plane

A National Army Plane

The National Army Plane is modeled after the Messerschmitt Bf 109 of the Luftwaffe (German Air Force). The National Army Plane's dark grey and black colors go with the color scheme of the Nazi's during World War II. The National Army Plane also bears a "X" on its wings, which resembles the Iron Cross symbol of Germany.

TriviaEdit

  • When a plane uses its wheels on the ground and runs over an enemy infantryman, sometimes the pilot is awarded with a "Road Kill" (usually awarded to a Jeep driver) or a "Tank Smash" (usually awarded to a Tank driver).
