Service Stars are a new multiplayer feature introduced in Battlefield 3. They are given to players once a fixed objective has been completed. Weapon service stars are awarded every 100 kills for 2000 points. Handguns and gadget weapons both do have service stars attached to them, but are not displayed when taken and do not award any points. Vehicle and kit service stars are awarded when there is nothing left to unlock, or when the next service star point level is reached, and are worth 10000 points. Once the player has reached the highest rank, they may continue to gain Colonel service stars up to 100 times.

All service stars have an identical appearance, being a slate-grey, five-pointed star.

Assault Service StarEdit

The Assault Service Star is acquired with a total accumulation of 220,000 experience points with the Assault Kit. It nets you a total of 10,000 experience and can be rewarded numerous times. However, one must acquire 220,000 experience each time to earn it.

Each Service star will result in 10,000 experience and the first will earn you a dog tag, the "Assault Service Dog Tag" it is represented by a heart with defibrillators on each side. This dog tag is worn on the left of the two available dog tag spots.

If you keep earning Assault Service Stars, you can earn more dog tags, and each new tag will have an additional star on the tag. The Second Dog Tag "Assault Service Star 5 Dog Tag" is earned after you have accumulated 5 Service Stars. The Third Dog Tag "Assault Service Star 10 Dog Tag: is earned after earning 10 Service Stars. A Fourth Dog Tag "Assault Service Star 25 Dog Tag" is earned after 25 Service Stars, and the Fifth Dog Tag is "Assault Service Star 50 Dog Tag" and corresponds to earning 50 Assault Service Stars. The sixth and final Assault Service Dog Tag is a Solid Gold Dog Tag "Assault Service Star 100 Dog Tag" It is earned after receiving 100 Assault Service Stars (22,000,000 Assault Class points).

This dog tag is worn on the left of the two available dog tag spots. The first Service Star is unlocked at the same time that all weapons for that specific kit are unlocked as well as faction specific weapons being able to be used by each team.

Engineer Service StarEdit

The engineer service star is unlocked once a player achieves a score of 145,000 points, with the Engineer kit.the service star grants 10,000 points and a dog tag, the player recieves another service star every 145,000 points.

After you get your 1st Engineer service star, you unlock the AKS-74U and the M4A1 for both the US and Russian teams.

Support Service StarEdit

Support service stars are awarded once every 170,000 points earned with the Support class.

You will earn this service star once you've collected 170,000 points you will also be rewarded with 10,000 points, the RPK-74M for use by the US faction and the M27 IAR for use by the Russian faction.

Recon Service StarEdit

The Recon service star is unlocked once a player achieves a score of

195,000 points with the Recon Kit .Once you unlock it you will get 10,000 points, a Recon Dog tag along with the ablity to use the MK11 Mod 0 and SVD on both US and RU teams.

MasterEdit

These are rewarded when you manage to get 5 service stars with a weapon, vehicle

or kit. It is an artistic rendition of the weapon you unlocked it for. If you get up to 100 service stars with a vehicle or kit, you unlock the special gold tag.
