Spawn Camping

Due to the design of the Battlefield Series, with the game revolving around static control points, players are more vulnerable to 'Spawn Camping' than other games such as the Unreal Tournament series.
Spawn camping refers to the tactic of taking up a useful position outside a control point or spawn beacon, usually with a powerful anti-infantry weapon such as a sniper rifle or explosives, without making any attempt to capture the flag in question. This can inflate the player's score (particularly important in the light of Battlefield 2's ranking system) but it eliminates any chance of enjoyment on the part of the opposing team, and is often seen as being a noobish tactic (one not requiring a great deal of skill to accomplish).
However it is not entirely impossible to counter - there is nothing to stop the opposing team from spawning at another flag, and using the vehicles and flanking opportunities provided by that flag to remove the camper. The commander of the team can use a satellite scan or UAV to track down the camper.
Spawn camping must be distinguished from the even more controversial tactic of Spawn Killing, which is executed in much the same way but with an uncapturable 'main base' as the target. In many situations, this will be the opposing team's only spawnpoint and the counter-tactics above will therefore be unavailable.
