The stun grenade is a non-lethal grenade that disorients and disables a target when it explodes. When one goes off, any person near the grenade is blinded by its flash and deafened by its blast for around five seconds. They are used to great effect in breaching operations and urban warfare. Stun grenades have been only featured in Battlefield 2: Modern Combat.

Battlefield 2: Modern CombatEdit

In Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, the XM84 Stun Grenade is issued to the Spec Ops Kit. In singleplayer, stun grenades prove very useful to distract enemies on the way to an objective, or when fighting in close quarters.

In multiplayer, stun grenades can be used before assaulting a control point to blind and disorient any defenders. In Capture the Flag, they can be very useful to stun the flag carrier to kill them easier and return the flag to base. However, one must throw all three to blind enemies effectively, and must turn away from the flash or be blinded by their own grenades. The flash ignores cover and penetrates walls, making the only way to protect from the flash is turning away.
