One honest question: Why would China invade Singapore? What political/economical/strategic advantages other than the airfield would the invasion provide to China?

politcal wise: Nada,
Economic wise: Nada, unless they want to take over the buisness there
Stategic wise, yes singapore is a very stategic place as you can basically bomb anyone trying to get past indonesia. Its also the short way from east asia to Eygpt (the long way is to go around Australia).

Actually Singapore is Chinese culturally, so that might be a reason. Юра 16:02, March 25, 2014 (UTC)
Considering we had PLAN units in the Suez Canal, I'd go with your third point (strategic reasons) and Yuri's (cultural reasons). PLR SoldierTalk 18:04, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

Okay, so China invades Singapore for strategic gain, but in Dragon's Teeth it's revealled the Chinese aggression actually affects other Asian countries like Thailand and North Korea.
Which leads to a new question: Why invade other countries when your country is in a civil war? This is against the Chinese rule of non-aggression (人不犯我,我不犯人, meaning 'if they do not harm me, I shall not harm them'), and of course, few civil wars in history have involved foreign nations, and those where foreign nations are invaded by the nation implicated by civil war are difficult to find.
I don't think DICE has thought thoroughly with the storytelling.
