"The EU forces are en route to reinforce an American division that has been cut off from the front lines. The MEC have moved to intercept them, and both armies are about to meet at the Taraba Quarry, the only crossing point of the Taraba River this side of the Caspian Sea. If the MEC can hold their side of the river, the Americans will be cut off and surrounded. The EU must break through the enemy lines before the Americans are overrun!"

Taraba Quarry is a map featured in Battlefield 2: Euro Force. It features a relatively flat, open landscape with large amounts of armored vehicles provided to both teams.

Overview

Armor plays a large role in this map, and both sides have a multitude of tanks at their disposal. As with other maps in Euro Force, this map has only 16- and 32-player versions, and the singleplayer version is different from the 16-player version.

When a Vehicle Drop is called, the EU will get a DPV and the MEC will get a FAV.

16 Player Variant

"This is a Conquest: Assault map. The force that causes the opponent's tickets to reach zero wins. The defending force can reduce the attacking force’s tickets gradually by holding all of the control points on the map. The attacking force can gradually reduce the defending force’s tickets by holding all of the control points on the map."

— Game Mode Briefing

This version takes place on the eastern half of the map, as a MEC assault into mostly EU-controlled territory. One control point starts neutral.

The default number of tickets is 90 for the EU and 110 for the MEC.

Farm Community

The MEC's uncapturable main base, as well as the northernmost control point. It hosts one artillery piece, the UAV trailer and radar station, as well as a stationary RPK-74 LMG, two HJ-8, three FAVs, a Vodnik, four T-90, a BTR-90

Abandoned Farm House

The only neutral control point, and the one closest to the MEC base. It is a two-building capture point with a partial stone wall on one side, and a smaller shack on the eastern end.

Under the MEC, it will spawn a T-90 and a Vodnik, and under the EU it will spawn a L2A6 and a HMMWV.

Engineering Compound

The centralmost control point of the map and the first EU control point that the MEC will face. It is a relatively large base divided in half by a large hill.

It spawns three stationary M249 LMG, two TOWs, two DPVs, two HMMWV, a L2A6 and a Challenger 2. Under MEC control, it will spawn three stationary RPK-74 LMG, two HJ-8, two FAVs, a Vodnik and three T-90.

EU Forward Outpost

The second EU control point. It spawns three stationary M249 LMG, two TOWs, a DPV, a HMMWV and a Challenger 2. Under MEC control, it will spawn three stationary RPK-74 LMG, two HJ-8, a FAV, a Vodnik and a T-90.

EU Camp Spearhead

The EU main base in the southeast, spawning an artillery piece, the UAV trailer and radar station, as well as three stationary M249 LMG, four TOWs, two DPVs, two HMMWV, two Challenger 2, two L2A6 and a LAV-25. Under MEC control, it will spawn three stationary RPK-74 LMG, four HJ-8, two FAVs, two Vodniks, four T-90 and a BTR-90.

32 Player Variant

"This is a Conquest: Head-on map. Your team will win if you cause your opponent's tickets to reach zero. You can increase the rate at which they lose tickets by holding at least half of the control points on this map."

— Game Mode Briefing

This version is set on the entirety of the map, with the EU starting on the eastern half and the MEC starting on the western half. Both sides have an uncapturable control point, and the scale of combat is increased with aircraft available for both teams.

The default number of tickets is 200 for both teams.

EU Camp Spearhead

The uncapturable EU main base in the southeast. It spawns three artillery pieces, the UAV trailer and radar station, as well as two stationary M249 LMG, three TOWs, a Stinger, two DPVs, two HMMWV, a Challenger 2, a L2A6, a Linebacker, a Eurofighter Typhoon and a F-15.

Engineering Compound

The second of the EU starting control points, the Engineering Compound is divided in half by a large hill. Under EU control, it will spawn two stationary M249 LMG, two DPVs, a Challenger 2 and a L2A6, while under MEC control, it will spawn two stationary RPK-74 LMG, two FAVs and two T-90.

Farm Community

The only neutral control point on the eastern side of the map, it is in the same location as in the 16-player version, although in the 32-player version it is of more strategic importance due to its location near one of the only ground crossing points on the map, a bridge/dam.

When captured by the EU, it spawns a stationary M249 LMG, a TOW, a Stinger, two DPVs, two HMMWV and a Linebacker. Under MEC control, it will spawn a stationary RPK-74 LMG, a HJ-8, an IGLA, two FAVs, two Vodniks and a Tunguska.

Quarry Dig Site

The neutral control point in the center and far north of the map. For the EU, it spawns a TOW, a Stinger, two DPVs and a L2A6. For the MEC, it spawns a HJ-8, an IGLA, two FAVs and a T-90.

Heavy Equipment Storage

A neutral control point on the western side of the bridge, it is almost a reflection of Farm Community. Under the EU, it will spawn three stationary M249 LMG, two TOWs, two HMMWV and a Linebacker. Under the MEC, it will spawn three stationary RPK-74 LMG, two HJ-8, two Vodniks and a Tunguska.

Freight Railyard

A MEC starting control point, and almost a reflection of Engineering Compound. It consists of one large building and one smaller building; the latter is partially protected by a fence to the west and south. The entire point is across the street from a broken-down railcar, with several freight crates around the flag.

It spawns two HJ-8, an IGLA, two FAVs and two T-90. Under the EU, it will spawn two TOWs, a Stinger, two DPVs, a L2A6 and a Challenger 2.

Taraba Guard HQ

The uncapturable base for the MEC, hosting three artillery pieces, the radar station and UAV trailer, as well as a stationary RPK-74 LMG, three HJ-8, an IGLA, two FAV, two Vodnik, two T-90, a Tunguska, a MiG-29 and a Su-34.

Singleplayer

"This is a Conquest: Double assault map. You reduce opponent’s tickets by holding more than half of the control points on the map. You win by capturing all control points or by reducing the opponent’s tickets to zero."

— Game Mode Briefing

The layout of control points in singleplayer is identical to multiplayer, but the possessions start differently. In addition, some vehicles will spawn differently.

Despite being a Double Assault map, the tickets are still unevenly set to 110 vs 90, and the MEC will still start with a ticket bleed, because tickets can only be set by the size and not the game mode.

EU Camp Spearhead

The EU main base, hosting one artillery piece, the UAV trailer and radar station, as well as spawning three stationary M249 LMG, four TOWs, two DPVs, two HMMWV, two L2A6, two Challenger 2 and a LAV-25. Under the MEC, it will spawn three stationary RPK-74 LMG, four HJ-8, two FAVs, two Vodniks, four T-90 and a BTR-90.

EU Forward Outpost

The second EU control point, spawning three stationary M249 LMG, a TOW, a DPV, a HMMWV and a Challenger 2. Under the MEC, it will spawn three stationary RPK-74 LMG, a HJ-8, a FAV, a Vodnik and a T-90.

Engineering Compound

The central control point, now starting neutral. Under the EU, it will spawn three stationary M249 LMG, a TOW, two DPV, two HMMWV, a Challenger 2 and a L2A6. Under the MEC, it will spawn three stationary RPK-74 LMG, a HJ-8, two FAV, a Vodnik and three T-90.

Abandoned Farm House

The first MEC control point, spawning a Vodnik and T-90, or under EU control, a HMMWV and a L2A6.

Farm Community

The MEC main base, but in this version it can be captured by the EU. It hosts an artillery piece, the UAV trailer and radar station, and spawns a stationary RPK-74 LMG, two HJ-8, three FAVs, a Vodnik, four T-90 and a BTR-90. If captured by the EU, it will spawn three stationary M249 LMG, two TOWs, three DPVs, a HMMWV, two L2A6, two Challenger 2 and a LAV-25.

Trivia

  • There is evidence of a cut sixth flag for the 16-player variant of this map in the localization files. CP_16p_Taraba_EquipmentRepairYard DELETED is listed alongside the five existing flags.
  • A 64-player version of this map was planned, as evidenced by a group of buildings on either side of the Quarry Dig Site flag outside the boundary area, which were highly likely intended to be flag areas. What these flags were meant to be called have been lost, and now only lines containing DELETED fill their place in the localization file.
  • There is a group of structures suggesting a reflection, on the western half of the map, of the Abandoned Farm House control point from the 16-player version. However, in the 32-player version, it is marked as inaccessible. It is unknown whether this was intended to be a control point area.
  • In the Singleplayer map, if the EU captures the Engineering Compound flag, a HMMWV with the default US desert shade will spawn instead of the EU shade. This is likely to be an error, because internally the two HMMWV variants are different vehicles; the GamePlayObjects.con file states that a default usjep_hmmwv will spawn instead of the EU xpak2_hmmwv.
    • Before patch 1.5, this problem also existed in multiplayer, and the patch notes state that this issue has been fixed, but does not mention singleplayer or multiplayer[1].
  • Also in the Singleplayer map, at the Farm Community control point, as well as EU Forward Outpost if captured by the MEC, one of the FAVs spawned is the PLA variant instead of the MEC variant.
