Bf4-fall-patch-2

DICE LA recently announced that the anticipated "Fall Patch" for Battlefield 4 is very close to release, with the patch currently going through the certification process for consoles. The team is aiming for targeted release date of late September.

The patch is set to introduce various changes that have gone through testing on the Community Test Environment during the last few months during its Core Gameplay Initiative, with changes ranging from changed layouts on Rush for the stock maps, player movement changes, HUD decluttering settings, weapon changes, and more. You can read more about the patch and some of the changes set to be added in it on Battlelog.

Also announced is the beginning of the CTE's newest initiative, the Teamplay Initiative. As you can probably tell from the name, this round of testing will be focused on improving the teamplay aspect of Battlefield 4. Some of the issues the team is planning on addressing include rebalancing of objective scoring to make objectives more desirable, rebalancing health and ammo packs, fixing the friendly/neutral roadkill exploit, distance spotting changes, and improvements to footstep and random callout sounds. As posted on the CTE's blog, the current task list developed internally for the initiative is as follows:

  • Gameplay Objective Scoring v2
  • Field Upgrades 2.0
  • Squad Leader & Commander communication
  • Intra Squad Leader communication
  • Squad Leader selection
  • Squad Respawns
  • Commander UAV
  • Teamplay Vehicles
  • Objective play tutorials & Personal Objectives
  • Kit usage/Summary on spawn screen
  • UI & HUD Objective Clarity pass
  • End of Round UI – Winning/Objective team oriented update

The team has said that the list is not complete and is subject to change, as well as encouraging the testers to propose their own ideas on the forum as to what they'd like to see changed or implemented. The changes during this initiative are not set to be included in the Fall Patch, with the current plan being to implement them with the release of Final Stand. The first patch of the Initiative was released on Friday, although it was mostly focused on bug fixes as well as adding a new Projectile Debug overlay to help with identifying issues with outgoing damage and hit detection.

Stay tuned for more information on the Fall Patch and the Teamplay Initiative to be released in the coming weeks.
