While players will have to pay for Activision's Call of Duty ELITE, Electronic Arts has announced that it has no plans to charge for its Battlelog social service for Battlefield 3.

This announcement was made after a Wedbush analyst predicted that EA might launch a paid, premium version of its service. EA's comment on that was as follows:

"We have no plans to charge for this service with Battlefield 3," reads EA's statement. "The Battlefield series has always been about playing with friends, and Battlelog takes that experience to the next level by serving as a unique social network."

Are you glad that Battlelog will remain free? Or would you like some paid extra features for premium users to appear?

Aside from the brand new gameplay trailer, EA has also released a bunch of new Battlefield 3 screenshots at the ongoing Gamescom in Cologne. Check them out here:

The jets sure look impressive, as do the overall graphics (probably from the PC version - wonder how the console versions will look like). What do you think?

More and more video game novelizations these days are written by established authors and these days they are no longer the epitome of bad fiction, as they used to be. As it turns out, Electronic Arts decided to hire the author known under the pseudonym "Andy McNab" to write Battlefield 3: The Russian.

McNab is a former member of SAS, British special forces, and is best known for his book Bravo Two Zero, which was later filmed with Sean Bean in the role of McNab himself.

The book, co-authored by McNab and Peter Grimsdale, focuses on Dmitry "Dima" Mayakovsky, one of the main characters of Battlefield 3 single player campaign. The book is not a straight novelization of the game's story, but it picks up after the events of the game itself.

Wikia's Game of the Year vote

    December 16, 2010 by Ausir

You can vote for your favorite game of the year in Wikia's Top Games of 2010 poll. It doesn't have to be Battlefield: Bad Company 2, of course - there have been quite a few excellent games released this year. If your favorite game is not on the list yet, you can simply add it.
