Battlefield 4 to be set in modern day
According to DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson in an interview at GDC (Game Developers' Conference) Europe, the next installment of the Battlefield series is to be set in the modern day.
He then went on to state that a lot of things affect the development of the franchise: fan feedback, market research and what they themselves wish to build. "It's not just one single thing," according to Troedsson.
Commenting on the name of the game, "And, yes, I know Battlefield 4 is probably [not?] the most creative name we ever could come up with. I can't comment anymore on that games [sic] because it's all secret."
Troedsson expressed that DICE wishes to continue with the setting as they "feel this is a place we can be and continue with the series. Battlefield 4 can live in this space and be very successful."
Concluding the interview, he hinted that the future may hold a sequel to the acclaimed Bad Company series. Quite peculiar, considering that the very same person previously stated that he believes "we're going to start seeing people moving away from the modern setting, because every now and again settings or themes start to get stale and then everyone jumps over."
Unfortunately, that's not good news for fans hoping to see a BF2143. This being my first news blog post, notify me of any screwups.
