Standard

The VDV (from "Vozdushno-Desantnye Voiska", Russian: Воздушно-десантные войска = ВДВ; Air-landing Forces) is a military branch of service of the Russian Military, on par with the Strategic Rocket Forces and the Russian Space Forces. First formed before World War II, the force undertook two significant airborne operations and a number of smaller jumps during the war and for many years after 1945 was the largest airborne force in the world. The VDV appears in Battlefield 3.

Battlefield 3Edit

The VDV appear in the mission Rock And A Hard Place and engage the Americans in order to stall time for GRU operatives Vladimir, Kiril and Dimitri Mayakovsky, who were attempting to capture the Russian Arms Dealer Kaffarov before the Americans. Throughout the mission, the paratroopers use mixed equipment: 6B7 and ZSh-1 helmets, balaclavas, SURPAT headgear, Rastr and Izlom camouflage.

The VDV makes no formal appearance in multiplayer, though the VDV Buggy spawns on flags controlled by the Russian Army, similar to the Growler ITV. There are several types of camouflage while on the Russian team that infer that players equipped with it may be VDV infantry. This camouflage is the "Paratrooper" (Rastr), "Ranger" (Izlom), and "Premium Camo 1" (Flectar-D).
